In a statement released by Al Shabab, it was stated, "We have filed an official complaint with the referee committee regarding Halil Umut Meler's officiating in the Al Hilal match. The Saudi Arabian Referee Committee noted that Halil Umut Meler influenced the result with erroneous decisions."
In the match played on November 30, Al-Hilal, managed by Jorge Jesus, defeated Vitor Pereira's team Al Shabab 2-1. The match was officiated by Halil Umut Meler, with Kerem Ersoy and Çağlar Uyarcan serving as his assistants.
