The world is focused on the 79th anniversary of one of the darkest massacres in human history, when the US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. From Gaza, a voice has emerged highlighting the similarities between the massacre that took place in Japan 79 years ago and the massacre being carried out in Gaza today.

Ismail al-Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, and Rami Abdu, Chairman of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euro-Med), stated in their remarks to AA that Israel's attacks on Gaza and the US attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki bear similarities.

Pointing out that the atomic bomb the US dropped on Hiroshima led to genocide, Abdu said, "None of the 2.3 million Palestinians living in Gaza have been spared from Israel's land, sea, and air attacks. Israel is not fighting against a specific group; it is waging a war of genocide against the entire population of Gaza."

"With the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, 70-80 thousand people died instantly, and by the end of 1945, the death toll reached approximately 140 thousand. We can say that the situation is no different in the Gaza Strip, where 10 percent of its residents have been killed, injured, or gone missing as a result of the war of genocide."

Pointing out that the destruction caused by the atomic bomb the US dropped on Hiroshima affected 70 percent of the buildings in the city, Abdu stated that this corresponds to the destruction the Israeli army has caused in residential areas in the Gaza Strip.

Euro-Med Chairman Abdu said, "Israel is directly targeting everything that could be used to sustain living conditions in the Gaza Strip."

Al-Thawabta stated, "It is estimated that Israel has dropped more than 82 thousand tons of explosives on Gaza. This amount corresponds to more than 5 times the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki."

Pointing out that Washington has supplied Israel with more than 100 thousand bombs and missiles, some containing 2 thousand kilograms of explosives, al-Thawabta emphasized that Israel continues to wage a war amounting to genocide by killing women, children, the elderly, and defenseless civilians with these weapons.
