Avalanche disaster! At least 10 climbers missing

At least 10 Nepalese climbers are missing following an avalanche near the Himlung Himal peak in the Himalayas. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday morning at a preparation site near the 7,126-meter-high peak in Nepal's Manang region.

According to the expedition organizers, the missing individuals were part of a local team sent to set up camp, prepare the climbing route, and organize fixed lines on the mountain before foreign climbers arrived in the area.

WEATHER HINDERS SEARCH EFFORTS

Bibhuti Chand Thakur from the Himalaya Holidays Trekking company stated, "It has been reported that eight of our expedition team members and two people from another company are missing."

It was noted that search and rescue operations are being carried out with difficulty due to heavy snowfall and poor weather conditions that have been effective in the region in recent days. It was reported that helicopters and rescue teams have not yet been able to reach the scene.

Himlung Himal is located on the border between Nepal and Tibet. The ongoing rain and snowfall in Nepal's mountainous regions are also negatively affecting mountaineering tourism, which is an important source of income for the country's economy.

Similarly, it was reported that climbers on Mount Manaslu, the world's eighth-highest peak, were forced to leave the area earlier this week due to an increased risk of avalanches.
