Axios: Trump's son-in-law Kushner plans official visit to Israel
The US-based news site Axios has claimed that Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, plans to visit Israel next week to hold talks regarding the Gaza issue.
It has been claimed that Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, plans to visit Israel next week to hold talks regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip.
In a report by the US-based news site Axios, citing 5 sources familiar with the plan, it was stated that this would be Kushner's first visit to Israel since January. It was noted that during the visit, Kushner and Nikolay Mladenov, the former United Nations (UN) Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process who was appointed by Trump as a "high representative" on the Gaza Peace Board, are planned to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials.
It was also stated that Kushner might travel to other countries in the Middle East to meet with leaders of regional countries that play a role in the Gaza issue. The report underscored that the visit would take place at a time when the Peace Board, established under Trump's leadership, is attempting to implement the next phase of its peace plan in Gaza.
On the other hand, it was claimed that the White House is concerned that the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in Israel on October 27 could delay the implementation of the next phase of the Gaza plan.
About two weeks ago, Trump announced that the Peace Board had reached an agreement with Hamas on disarmament and the transfer of Gaza's civil and security administration to a new Palestinian technocratic government.
