Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on the US to share satellite imagery regarding the hospital massacre in Gaza that occurred on Wednesday evening.
According to Sputnik, speaking to Rossiya 1 television, Lavrov said the following:
"At a time when everyone is discussing the tragedy in Gaza, where a hospital was attacked and hundreds of people were killed and hundreds more injured, satellite imagery of this could also be requested from the Americans. Because they are certainly monitoring this region with satellites. They cannot have failed to notice such an attack. We must first look at ourselves; perhaps then the world could be more peaceful."
'RUSSIA REMAINS COMMITTED TO A TWO-STATE SOLUTION BASED ON 1967 BORDERS'
Lavrov also stated that Moscow maintains its commitment to UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions that envision the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. Lavrov said, "We are committed to the UNSC resolutions that no one has canceled and no one has rejected. These resolutions envision reaching an agreement on the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders."
WHAT HAPPENED?
On Wednesday, 471 people lost their lives in an attack on the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, according to official statements. While Israel stated that the attack was carried out by the Islamic Jihad group, which is close to Hamas, and that they hit the hospital by mistake, Hamas claimed that Israel carried out the attack.
Joe Biden, who visited Israel immediately after the attack, said regarding the hospital massacre, "It appears as though it was done by the other side."
