CENTCOM: 58 ships rerouted, 4 ships neutralized

As the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports around the Strait of Hormuz continues, CENTCOM has shared the latest data regarding the blockade.

The statement said, "The U.S. Navy's blockade of Iran continues to be fully implemented.

As of today, CENTCOM forces have rerouted 58 commercial ships and neutralized 4 ships since April 13 in line with preventing entry and exit to Iranian ports."

Intervention against Iranian-flagged ships

Within the scope of the aforementioned blockade in the region, the U.S. military claimed that the Iranian-flagged cargo ship Touska, sailing in the Arabian Sea on April 19, did not comply with the blockade and fired artillery at the ship's engine room. Later, U.S. Marines boarded the ship and seized the vessel.

The U.S. military also reported on May 6 that the Iranian-flagged empty oil tanker M/T Hasna was detected heading toward an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman, and that a fighter jet was scrambled from an aircraft carrier stationed in the region to intervene in the blockade violation. As part of this intervention, the ship's steering system was neutralized by fire from the fighter jet.

Finally, CENTCOM forces announced yesterday that two empty oil tankers, the Iranian-flagged "M/T Sea Star III" and "M/T Sevda," were detected violating the blockade by heading toward Iranian ports in the Gulf of Oman, and that a U.S. Navy fighter jet had taken off from an aircraft carrier stationed in the region for another intervention. The ships' funnel systems were struck with precision-guided munitions fired from the aircraft, and the ships were neutralized.
