The death toll from the ballistic missile attack targeting King Khalid International Airport near the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, has been announced. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that at least 12 people lost their lives and 309 others were injured in the attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
According to the statement, those who lost their lives include 4 Saudi Arabian citizens, 2 Bangladeshi citizens, and one citizen each from the USA, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan. It was stated that some of the injured are in critical condition.
It was stated that the attack also caused material damage at the airport and that damage assessment efforts are ongoing. It had been previously announced that operations at the airport were temporarily suspended following the attack.
King Khalid International Airport has been one of the points targeted by the Houthis in recent days. Saudi authorities had announced that 3 Saudi Arabian citizens lost their lives and many others were injured in two attacks on the same airport on October 8.
It was reported that 3 more people were killed and 36 were injured in Houthi attacks on King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport on October 6-7.
