Death toll in Gaza rises to 18,800

The number of people killed in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has continued its attacks since October 7, has risen by 13 in the last 24 hours to 18,800.

In a written statement issued by the Media Office of the Gaza government, updated information regarding the 70th day of the attacks was shared.

According to this, the number of people who have died in the attacks so far has risen to 18,800, including 8,000 children and 6,200 women.

Among the deceased are 300 health personnel, 32 civil defense workers, and 89 journalists.

While the number of injured has risen to 51,000, the bodies of 7,500 people under the rubble and along the roadsides have still not been reached.

ATTACKS ON THE HEALTH SYSTEM

In the attacks, 126 government buildings were destroyed, 90 schools and universities were rendered out of service, 282 schools and universities were partially damaged, 112 mosques were completely destroyed, 200 were partially destroyed, and 52,500 housing units were completely destroyed. In the Gaza Strip, 22 hospitals and 53 health centers have been rendered out of service, 102 ambulances were damaged, and 327,000 people have contracted infectious diseases.

As an extension of the attacks on hospitals, the Kamal Adwan Hospital was turned into a military barracks, and the wounded and patients there were forced to go to Al-Shifa Hospital. 70 health workers, including Kamal Adwan Hospital Director Ahmed al-Kahlout, were detained.

Israel has continued to deprive patients, the wounded, and health personnel of water, food, and electricity, and to prevent the wounded and patients from reaching hospitals.

HUMANITARIAN SITUATION AND AID REQUEST

According to the statement, the Israeli army has intentionally cut off communication networks and the internet in the Gaza Strip completely five times since the beginning of the "genocide war." With the interruption of communication, the dead and wounded could not be reached, which caused the numbers to rise and the humanitarian crisis to deepen.

In the statement, considering the current situation, Arab and Islamic countries were asked to establish field hospitals in Gaza, to accept severe cases into their countries for treatment, and to work seriously to repair and restore hospitals and health centers to service.

In the statement, which noted that approximately 61 percent of housing in Gaza has been destroyed due to the attacks, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Arab League, and all countries of the free world were requested to make every effort to find a solution to the housing crisis.
