Egypt issues statement on extension of 'humanitarian pause' in Gaza

Diaa Rashwan, Chairman of Egypt's State Information Service, announced in a written statement that negotiations are ongoing through the efforts of Qatar and Egypt to extend the "humanitarian pause" in Gaza.

Stating that the negotiations to extend the "humanitarian pause" in Gaza by another 2 days have reached the final stage, Rashwan noted that the agreement involves Hamas releasing 10 Israeli hostages in exchange for 30 Palestinian prisoners daily.

Rashwan stated that if an agreement is reached, it would pave the way for the release of a total of 60 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 20 Israeli hostages over the next 2 days, and added that the entry of fuel, food, and humanitarian aid into Gaza would continue.

The Chairman of Egypt's State Information Service added that 11 Israeli hostages held by Hamas are expected to be released during the day, and that negotiations are continuing for Israel to release 33 Palestinian prisoners.

The agreement for a 4-day "humanitarian pause" in the clashes between Israel and Hamas went into effect on Friday, November 24, at 07:00 (08:00 Turkish time).

According to the agreement, a consensus was reached on the release of 150 Palestinians in Israeli prisons in exchange for 50 Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Within the scope of the prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas, 40 Israeli hostages, one male and the others women and children, have been released from the Gaza Strip so far, and 117 Palestinian women and child prisoners have been released from Israeli prisons.
