General of the Assad era, Adil Issa, extradited to Syria by Lebanon

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that retired Major General Adil Issa, who served during the era of the ousted leader Bashar al-Assad, has been extradited to Syria by Lebanese authorities.
According to a statement made on the ministry's social media account, the extradition of Issa, who was subject to an arrest warrant, was carried out through coordination between the authorities of the two countries at the request of the Syrian Public Prosecutor's Office.
The statement noted that the Lebanese Court of Cassation Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for Adil Issa in line with the request of the Damascus administration, and that following the decision, Issa was handed over to the authorities in Syria.
It was reported that Adil Issa served as the 17th Division Commander in the former Baath regime's army and continued to serve as the Deir ez-Zor Land Forces Commander until 2016.
Syrian authorities stated that an arrest warrant in absentia had been issued for Issa by the 7th Investigative Judge. It was noted that Issa will be tried on charges of "premeditated murder," "facilitating the commission of serious crimes," "premeditated murder of multiple persons," "torture resulting in death," and "organizing attacks aimed at inciting civil war and sectarian conflict."
It was announced that the case is being handled by the 4th Indictment Court of Damascus and that the legal process has been initiated to transfer Issa to the Damascus Criminal Court.
