The German government has stated that it views a two-state solution in the Middle East as an important perspective for a peaceful future.

Germany proposes two-state solution in the Middle East

Deputy Government Spokesperson Wolfgang Büchner, speaking in Berlin, evaluated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement that he is "opposed to the establishment of a Palestinian state."

Büchner said, "We want to emphasize that our government, the European Union, and the U.S. government view the two-state solution as an important perspective for a peaceful future."

"OUR POSITION IS VERY CLEAR"

Stating that the two-state solution is very important for the Palestinians, Büchner noted that Palestinians need a perspective for their future.

Deputy Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Christian Wagner, in his statement on the matter, used the expression, "Our position is very clear; a long-term solution to the Middle East conflict will only be possible with a two-state solution."

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had stated in his remarks that they are opposed to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
