Instagram apologizes to Palestinian users after calling them 'terrorists': "Translation error"
Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has apologized, stating that the phrase "Palestinian terrorists are fighting for their freedom" appearing on the profiles of some Arab users was a translation-related error.
Following the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948, the Palestinian people, who have been fragmented over time by various policies, agreements, and UN resolutions, and confined to a prison-like existence through settlement policies, are waking up to the sounds of bombs once again after many years.
14 days have passed since Hamas launched the Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel. As the intensity of the war increases with each passing day, humanity is being subjected to a series of divisive policies and propaganda, ranging from politicians to media powers.
"TRANSLATION ERROR"
Now, Meta, the parent company that also owns the social media site Instagram, has apologized after it was revealed that the word 'terrorist' was added to the biography section of some Palestinian users' profiles on Instagram.
This phrase was appearing on the accounts of individuals who had 'Palestinian' written in English and 'Alhamdulillah' in Arabic in their profiles, while also using the Palestinian flag emoji.
The English translation of the written words read, "Praise be to God. Palestinian terrorists are fighting for their freedom".
The company, which argued that this situation was caused by 'inappropriate automatic translations', shared the information that the issue in question had been resolved. In a statement made by Meta, the owner of Instagram, it was said, "We fixed a problem that caused inappropriate Arabic translations in some of our products. We sincerely apologize that this happened".
