Iran announces 'agreement reached with Oman'
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced that Iran and Oman have reached an agreement regarding the geographical features of the planned route for safe maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz.
A notable development has occurred in the talks between Iran and Oman aimed at ensuring safe maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that the administrations in Tehran and Muscat have reached an agreement on the geographical features of the planned maritime transport route in the strait. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that a joint statement regarding the agreement could be published soon, provided that "certain third parties" do not interfere in the process.
Baghaei noted that an agreement between Iran and Oman would not automatically guarantee safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the US's military activities in the region continue to threaten security.
Expressing that many factors leading to security risks in the strait have not yet been eliminated, Baghaei noted that the US continues its "aggressive and threatening actions against Iran and its interests" through a maritime blockade against the country.
Baghaei also reported that Iran continues its contacts with Pakistan and Qatar, which have taken on a mediation role between the parties, but stated that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf do not plan to pay official visits to these countries at this stage.
