Iran denies entry to two French Embassy employees
The Tehran administration has blocked the return of two French Embassy employees to the country, citing violations of the Vienna Convention.
Iran has denied entry to two French Embassy employees. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the decision was made on the grounds that the individuals in question violated the Vienna Convention, which regulates the rules and privileges of diplomatic missions.
In its statement, the ministry alleged that the two embassy employees had engaged in activities supporting Iranian civil society. The statement included the remark, "Insisting that these individuals were engaged in activities to support civil society is, in itself, an admission that the Vienna Convention has been violated."
Iranian authorities reported that, for this reason, the two French diplomatic mission employees were not permitted to return to Iran.
