Iranian Red Crescent: More than 82 thousand civilian structures damaged in attacks

Iranian Red Crescent President Pir Hossein Kolivand shared updated data regarding the damage caused to civilian areas following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Stating that 82 thousand 417 civilian structures have been damaged across the country so far, Kolivand said, "Of the damaged civilian structures, 62 thousand 440 are residential units, while 19 thousand 187 consist of shops and commercial units located in different provinces of the country." Kolivand also emphasized that 25 thousand 280 residential and commercial buildings were damaged in Tehran province alone.

Health and education infrastructure also damaged

Stating that health and education infrastructure also suffered serious damage in the attacks, Kolivand noted that 281 health and emergency centers, 498 schools, 17 Red Crescent centers, as well as 3 helicopters, 48 search and rescue vehicles, and 46 ambulances were damaged. Noting that aid teams worked devotedly under difficult conditions to save the lives of thousands of people trapped under rubble and in high-risk areas, Kolivand recorded that some aid workers were injured during the operations, and one Red Crescent worker lost their life while on duty.

International process initiated

Stating that documents regarding the attacks have been submitted to international institutions, Kolivand said, "Documents regarding violations of international and humanitarian law are being regularly submitted to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council, and other relevant international institutions. Our goal is not only to record the events but to defend the rights of the public, protect civilians, and prevent the recurrence of similar incidents."

The toll of the attacks

In the joint air strikes launched by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, many high-ranking Iranian officials, as well as Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, lost their lives. In the latest statement made by Iran, it was reported that the death toll in the attacks had exceeded 1 thousand 348, and the number of injured had surpassed 17 thousand.
