Israeli army strikes 'safe zone' in Gaza: 50 dead, mostly children
The Israeli army killed 11 people, including women and children, in an airstrike on a tent camp in Al-Mawasi, an area it had declared a safe zone. Along with other attacks across Gaza, 50 Palestinians lost their lives in a single day.
The Israeli military carried out an airstrike on Al-Mawasi, located in the southern Gaza Strip, an area previously declared a humanitarian zone for the safety of civilians. 11 civilians living in the tent camp lost their lives in the attack. Among the dead are women and children. The Israeli army announced that it had killed Hamas security official Hussam Shahwan in the area.
POLICE CHIEF KILLED IN ATTACK
The Gaza Ministry of Interior announced that Police Chief Mahmoud Salah and his deputy, Hussam Shahwan, were killed in the attack. The ministry stated that by killing the police chief, Israel aimed to create chaos in the region and increase the suffering of civilians. The Israeli army confirmed Shahwan's death but did not make a statement regarding the death of Salah.
