Israeli Prime Minister's Office: Changes proposed by Hamas are unacceptable

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office has announced that the changes proposed by Hamas to the hostage exchange and ceasefire agreement in Gaza are unacceptable to them, claiming that the group has requested modifications to the Qatari proposal. The statement also announced that negotiators will be sent to Qatar on Sunday.

The statement released by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office said, "The changes Hamas wants to make to the Qatari proposal were conveyed to us last night, and they are unacceptable to Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed that the invitation for indirect talks be accepted and that contacts continue to bring our hostages back, based on the Qatari proposal that Israel has agreed upon." The statement further added, "The negotiating team will depart tomorrow (Sunday) to attend the talks in Qatar."

Reports in the Israeli media stated that Hamas has proposed three fundamental changes to the agreement. The reports claimed that these proposals include explicitly stating in the agreement text that a permanent ceasefire will continue until a conclusion is reached in the negotiations, the full resumption of humanitarian aid through mechanisms supported by the United Nations and other international aid organizations, and the withdrawal of the Israeli army to positions held before the collapse of the previous ceasefire in March.
