Kremlin opens door to trilateral negotiations on US-Russia-Ukraine line

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has signaled that trilateral talks between the US, Russia, and Ukraine aimed at resolving the crisis could resume. Responding to questions from journalists in Moscow, Peskov noted, however, that it is still too early to discuss the location and schedule for potential negotiations.

Peskov evaluated the contacts of US President Donald Trump's special representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, in Moscow and Kyiv. Stating that they view the American side's initiatives as a "small step toward peace," Peskov said, "We truly value the efforts of the American negotiators toward achieving peace."

Conveying that the Russian side has not yet been informed about the results of the US representatives' contacts in Ukraine, Peskov indicated that a phone call could take place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Trump on this topic.

Responding to a question regarding the possibility of a trilateral format, Peskov stated, "We do not rule out the possibility of restarting negotiations in a trilateral format, but it is still too early to talk about the location and dates for negotiations." Peskov left unanswered a question regarding the extent to which the US negotiators' proposals differ from those made at the Anchorage summit.

In the same statement, Peskov also evaluated Norway's plans to deploy an artillery battalion to the Russian border. Arguing that this step is directed against Russia and threatens security, Peskov also announced that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will visit Russia in the near future.
