Laboratory technician dies of plague in Russia: 189 people placed in isolation
Following the death of 28-year-old Darya Shipilova, who worked at the Plague Control Institute, 189 people have been placed under observation and isolation.
It has been reported that 28-year-old Darya Shipilova, who worked as a laboratory technician at the Plague Control Institute in Russia, has died due to the plague. According to information reflected in the local press, isolation measures have been initiated for individuals considered to be potential contacts following the death.
According to information provided by the Buryatia administration, it has been confirmed that the cause of Shipilova's death was the plague. Following the development, a total of 189 people were placed under observation.
It was stated that 114 of those placed in isolation are being held at a healthcare facility, 63 at another hospital, and 12 within the Plague Research Institute.
It was also reported that Russia's Chief Infectious Diseases Specialist, Anna Popova, traveled to the city of Irkutsk, located approximately 4,200 kilometers from Moscow, due to the incident. The fact that the relevant authorities have not yet made a detailed official statement regarding the type of the disease has caused concern among the public.
