MOSSAD alleged to have remotely detonated pagers: 'Placed in the device batteries'

It has been alleged that the Israeli foreign intelligence agency MOSSAD had previously placed explosives in the batteries of the pagers that were detonated in Lebanon. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed that 14 people were also injured in the Syrian capital Damascus and its countryside as a result of the pager explosions.

The repercussions continue following the attack in Lebanon, where the simultaneous detonation of pagers used by Hezbollah members for communication has so far resulted in 9 deaths and 2,750 injuries.

In a statement made by the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, it was claimed that 14 people were also injured in the Syrian capital Damascus and its countryside as a result of the detonation of the pagers used by Hezbollah.

A source close to Hezbollah also stated in a statement to AFP that some Hezbollah members were injured as a result of the pager explosions in Syria.

"MOSSAD PLACED EXPLOSIVES IN THE BATTERIES"

In a report based on various sources, Sky News Arabia claimed that the large-scale pager attack in Lebanon was made possible by the Israeli foreign intelligence agency MOSSAD intercepting Hezbollah's communication devices before they were delivered.

According to the source, MOSSAD placed a powerful explosive material called "PETN" into the batteries of the devices and detonated them by remotely raising the temperature of the batteries.

The US-based Wall Street Journal newspaper reported that some Hezbollah members noticed the pagers heating up before the explosion and discarded the devices.

SCHOOLS CLOSED

Lebanese Minister of Education Abbas Halabi announced that all public schools, private schools, and universities across the country will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday). Halabi stated that the decision was taken in response to the attack carried out across the country.
