In Poland, far-right Confederation Party MP Grzegorz Braun extinguished the candles on a Hanukkah menorah (a candelabra lit during the 8-day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah) in the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament, using a fire extinguisher.

MP Braun extinguishes 'Hanukkah' candles with fire extinguisher

Braun, who has a history of making antisemitic remarks, grabbed a fire extinguisher, walked toward the menorah, and sprayed foam onto the candles and across the entire Sejm (lower house of parliament) hall.

Sejm Speaker Szymon Holownia expelled Braun from the current session and suspended the session where the Donald Tusk government was set to face a vote of confidence.

Holownia also stated that a motion regarding Braun's behavior would be sent to the prosecutor's office and that the MP would be reported for obstructing a religious ceremony.

The Sejm Presidium imposed a penalty on Braun, cutting half of his salary for 3 months and all of his per diem allowances for 6 months.

The Presidium authorized the Sejm Office to file a complaint with the prosecutor's office.
