Saudi Arabia: Joint defense agreement not linked to nuclear ambitions

Rayed Krimly, Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, shared a post on his social media account regarding the joint defense agreement signed between Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Minister Krimly stated, "The Makkah Joint Defense Agreement reflects the depth and long-standing nature of the strategic relations between the three countries. These relations have developed over decades and represent the result of years of detailed negotiations.

The Makkah Joint Defense Agreement enables the three countries to develop joint defense capabilities, strengthen strategic deterrence, increase readiness levels, and collectively counter any threats to their security by further developing and integrating their own defense capabilities. According to the agreement, an attack on any of the three countries will be considered an attack on all three," he said.

"Not linked to nuclear ambitions"

Krimly added, "This agreement does not imply an effort to form a military axis or a sectarian bloc. Furthermore, it is not linked to nuclear ambitions or an arms race; on the contrary, it focuses on developing sustainable capabilities. This agreement has been made in a way that will not harm Saudi Arabia's strong and strategic relations with its Gulf, Arab, and international partners.

This situation does not pose a threat to the security of any country in the region, nor does it lead to an escalation of tensions between states. This agreement does not replace or alter existing bilateral or multilateral agreements between these countries or between these countries and other states or international organizations," he stated.
