Slovenia decides to recognize Palestine

While Spain, Ireland, and Norway are expected to officially announce their recognition of the State of Palestine today, a similar step has come from Slovenia.

According to the report in İHA, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob announced that the Slovenian government will evaluate the proposal to officially recognize the State of Palestine this week.

'FOR LASTING PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST...'

Golob stated that the proposal for the official recognition of Palestine will be discussed at the government meeting to be held on Thursday, adding, "In the meantime, we will continue to coordinate with a group of like-minded countries to exert pressure for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages. As a responsible member of the United Nations, we have an obligation to do everything in our power to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East."

The Slovenian Prime Minister had initiated the process for the recognition of Palestine as an independent and sovereign state on May 9.
