Trump confirms: Undocumented immigrants will be deported
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed that his plan for the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants in the country will involve declaring a national emergency and utilizing the military.
Trump clarified the claims on this issue with a single word on his Truth Social social media platform account.
Responding to a user who tagged him and posted, "Reports are that the Trump administration is preparing to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the (Joe) Biden invasion with a mass deportation program," Trump replied, "True."
During his 2024 presidential campaign, which culminated in the November 5 election, Donald Trump had promised to mass-deport undocumented immigrants by invoking the 18th-century "Alien Enemies Act," which allows for the detention and deportation of anyone over the age of 14 who comes from a country at war with the U.S.
Meanwhile, the Department of Defense has been supporting border security missions against undocumented immigrants for years through the National Guard. However, it is noted that there are still unanswered questions regarding the potential legal, logistical, and budgetary constraints surrounding the mass deportation plans voiced by Trump.
