Turkey-Palestine Friendship Hospital suspends operations

Israel continues its attacks on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, it was reported that operations at the Turkey-Palestine Friendship Hospital, located near the Nitzarim settlement south of Gaza City, have been suspended following the depletion of fuel and the building being bombed twice.

The hospital, which has a closed area of 36 thousand square meters and a capacity of 180 beds, was built by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and handed over to Palestinian authorities. The Turkey-Palestine Friendship Hospital, the only oncology hospital in the Gaza Strip, had been targeted by Israeli warplanes twice.

CANCER PATIENTS WERE RECEIVING TREATMENT

The third and final floor of the hospital had sustained heavy damage as a result of the attacks. In the hospital, where cancer patients were receiving treatment, some departments had been closed in recent weeks due to fuel shortages. It is estimated that there are 9 thousand cancer patients in the Gaza Strip, which has a population of 2.3 million.
