Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have decided to accelerate joint defense measures against security threats facing Saudi Arabia within the scope of the Mecca Defense Alliance.

According to a joint statement issued by the foreign ministries of the three countries, an extraordinary meeting of the Mecca Defense Alliance Strategic Political and Defense Committee was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The meeting addressed security developments and threats facing Saudi Arabia.

The statement announced that necessary measures would be taken to provide and rapidly deploy the military forces and capabilities agreed upon by the parties to Saudi Arabia, within the framework of established regulations. It was stated that these steps aim to strengthen the level of preparedness against threats, military integration, and collective capacity.

EMPHASIS ON COLLECTIVE DEFENSE IN JOINT STATEMENT

The joint statement emphasized that the security of each party is an integral part of the collective security of the three countries. It was stated that the committee agreed to proceed immediately with the implementation of collective defense commitments.

The statement also condemned attempts to target Mecca and Medina, as well as attacks targeting cities, civilian, and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia. It was noted that the parties categorically reject any attack or threat against the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

It was conveyed that Turkey and Pakistan appreciate the vigilance and preparedness of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces. The statement emphasized the professionalism and competence of the Riyadh administration in protecting the country's security and territorial integrity.

The committee reported that it evaluated the results of the political and military consultations conducted prior to the meeting and approved the proposals submitted to it. It was stated that transforming the commitments under the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense into concrete measures demonstrates the alliance's will for collective defense.

At the meeting, it was also decided to appoint retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood from Pakistan as Secretary General for a three-year term. The statement expressed confidence that Mahmood's appointment would contribute to the advancement of the alliance and the achievement of its goals.
