White House denies reports of memorandum of understanding published by Iranian press

The White House has issued a statement regarding reports published by the Iranian press concerning a memorandum of understanding that would allegedly end the US-Iran conflict.

The White House stated that the report published by Iranian state television regarding an initial informal framework draft for a potential peace agreement between Iran and the US is "not true" and that the memorandum in question is "completely fabricated."

The draft published by Iranian state television included statements that Iran would return commercial maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within one month, while in return, the US would withdraw its military forces from around Iran and lift its naval blockade.

The draft also stated that the management and routing of commercial ship traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz would be coordinated through cooperation between Iran and Oman.

The report noted that if a final agreement is reached within 60 days, the memorandum would be formalized through a binding resolution at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
