There has been no news since September 27 from Kabaiş, a student in the Preschool Teaching Department at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, who told her friends she was going to the beach to collect pebbles. Search efforts for Kabaiş, whose mobile phone and headphones were previously found on the beach, are continuing uninterrupted in both the lake and coastal areas under the coordination of the Van Governor's Office.
The Coast Guard Van Lake Group Command, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the Provincial Police Department's Seamen and Navigation Services Bureau and Underwater Group Command, and AFAD diver teams are scanning the depths of the lake using underwater imaging devices. Side-scan sonar devices with higher image quality, brought in from Çanakkale and Samsun, are also being used in the efforts to locate the missing girl.
Teams on the shore are also utilizing helicopters, drones, and specially trained dogs to continuously check residential areas near the beach, abandoned structures in the Bardakçı neighborhood, reed beds, and the area where Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced on his social media account on October 10 that a headscarf belonging to Kabaiş had been found.
Kabaiş's family and relatives continue their wait in the area where the search is being conducted.
