Alarming defect at Volkswagen: 208 thousand vehicles recalled

Volkswagen has decided to recall 208,724 vehicles in the US due to a defect risk identified in the steering system. It was reported that the recall covers certain model years of Volkswagen Tiguan and Atlas models, as well as the Audi Q3.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that the issue stems from a mounting bolt used in the steering gear. According to the statement, this defect could affect the steering system and lead to a loss of vehicle control for the driver.

The NHTSA warned that this situation could increase the risk of an accident. The recall includes a specific portion of 2018 model Volkswagen Tiguan, 2018-2019 model Volkswagen Atlas, and 2019-2021 model Audi Q3 vehicles.

Volkswagen announced that the necessary repairs for the affected vehicles will be performed free of charge. Authorized dealers will replace the right-side steering gear mounting bolt on the vehicles covered by the recall at no cost.
