Election calculations are shifting: Preparations for 2 separate alliances in Ankara's corridors
Political circles suggest that the YRP, DEVA, and Saadet Party are nearing the end of their tripartite alliance efforts, while new contacts centered around the IYI Party are also ongoing.
Following the transition to the Presidential Government System, the search for alliances has once again come to the forefront of political balances. The 50%+1 requirement turns not only major parties but also parties with limited vote shares into critical actors regarding election results.
In political circles, it is being discussed that the Yeniden Refah Party, DEVA Party, and Saadet Party are nearing the end of their long-standing preparations for a tripartite alliance. It is stated that the work is expected to be completed by October.
The fact that structures such as DEVA and the Gelecek Party, which entered Parliament on CHP lists in the last elections, are turning toward new pursuits has strengthened the possibility of renewed contact between parties that appeal to similar bases. For smaller parties, vote shares that can be decisive in presidential elections may not be sufficient to enter Parliament alone in parliamentary elections.
According to a report in Ekonomi Gazetesi, another topic being discussed in the corridors is the potential contacts that could take shape around the IYI Party. Ümit Özdağ, who left the IYI Party—which was founded by cadres who had split from the MHP—founded the Zafer Party, while Yavuz Ağıralioğlu founded the Anahtar Party.
It is claimed that the Zafer Party and the Anahtar Party may seek a new alliance ground with the IYI Party to avoid facing the election threshold in the first elections. For this reason, the "tripartite alliance" formula in politics is expected to come to the agenda more frequently in the coming period.
