They're practically forcing people to buy electric cars

I never thought I would write about electric cars like this.

The Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) rates on gasoline and diesel cars, combined with fuel prices exceeding 100 TL and the added maintenance costs, have pushed electric cars to the top of the agenda and sales charts.

The entry of electric cars into the market began at the end of 2020 with the Porsche Taycan. The ÖTV was 15 percent. The price was 1 million 600 thousand.

There were queues at the dealerships.

People were pulling strings to get their hands on a Porsche Taycan.

The government immediately intervened and increased the ÖTV on electric cars fourfold in February 2021, raising it from 15 percent to 60 percent.

Naturally, sales came to a screeching halt.

Those who had bought them with the 15 percent ÖTV couldn't even sell their cars on the second-hand market.

The electric car market had been limping along since 2020, until this year.

The arrival of TOGG in our lives, the introduction of price-competitive cars by leading brands, and the unstoppable rise in gasoline and diesel prices have positively impacted electric car sales.

The government's tax base adjustment for electric cars also had a positive effect on the markets.

Electric cars suddenly became a priority for buyers.

The luckiest ones regarding the ÖTV tax base limitation were those who bought the Mini Cooper Countryman.

When the car hit the tax base threshold, its ÖTV jumped from 15 percent to 55 percent overnight.

Those who bought a Mini Cooper made a profit of 1 million 200 thousand TL in one night.

The ÖTV rate for electric cars varies between 25 percent and 75 percent depending on the tax base.

The biggest concern for those looking to buy an electric car was the range issue.

Automotive companies have managed to increase the range, which started at 200 km, up to 800 km.

Of course, the most important factor is fuel.

Electric car users pay almost one-fifth of what gasoline or diesel car users pay for fuel.

They travel the same distance for 600 TL instead of 3 thousand lira. What more could you ask for?

TOGG is leading the way in electric car sales.

In the first 9 months, the TOGG T10X sold 22 thousand 20 units, the TOGG T10F 15 thousand 406 units, the KG Mobility Torres 10 thousand 454 units, the Mini Countryman 8 thousand 151 units, and the Tesla Model Y 6 thousand 93 units.

Brands like Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, BMW, and Volvo have made significant progress in electric cars.

Land Rover, which has always been cold toward the electric vehicle market, is entering the market next year with 3 models we are familiar with.

Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and the new model Range Rover GT.

Land Rover will leave its mark on 2027.

The price of the 3-liter diesel Range Rover is 34 million, while the electric version is expected to be around 20 million.

The price of the 3-liter diesel Range Rover Sport is 22 million, while the electric version is expected to be around 14 million.

The Range Rover GT is a new vehicle and it is electric. Its appearance resembles the Velar. The price of the GT is also expected to be around 10 million.

That is, of course, if the Euro exchange rate doesn't change.

A total of 803 thousand 465 vehicles were sold in our country in the first 9 months.

In 2025, 927 thousand 647 were sold in the first 9 months.

The loss is 124 thousand 182.

The sales leader of the automotive sector in our country is Renault. It sold 102 thousand 818 vehicles in the first 9 months. It is followed by Volkswagen with 66 thousand 112. Fiat is third with 65 thousand 875 sales. Toyota takes fourth place with 47 thousand 744.

As for the best-selling cars, in the first 9 months, the Renault Clio HB reached 33 thousand 636, Toyota Corolla 24 thousand 495, Renault Megane Sedan 22 thousand 768, TOGG T10X 22 thousand 20, and Renault Duster 19 thousand 774 units in sales.

Among car brands, one of the models in the most advantageous position right now is the gasoline-powered Volkswagen Taigo. 1 million 870 thousand TL.

No one can compete with TOGG in electric, but if you are considering another advantageous model, I would say take a look at the Volvo EX30. 2 million 470 thousand TL.

If you are considering a gasoline-powered SUV model, I recommend the Range Rover Evoque for its brand value and price advantage.

The list price of the Range Rover Evoque is 6 million 878 thousand TL.

The campaign price is 5 million 600 thousand TL with a 21 percent discount.

We have entered the last 3 months of the car market.

December is the best and most auspicious month for those who want to buy a car.

My advice is to wait and see what December brings.

That is what I am doing.
