Narcissistic expression from debate to conflict

On the streets, on the roads, in traffic, at the market, everyone is angry, everyone is aggressive. People are in a strange state of frenzy. Homes have ceased to be environments of peace and security and have turned into places where violence is nurtured and grown. There is almost no moment left where family members come together and have a pleasant time. Within the family, from young to old, everyone is either locked into their own social media world and isolated from other family members, or focused on their own social relationships. So much so that even when family members are physically together, they are not actually together. They can only interact by tracking each other's social media activity. At the root of this social media tracking lies distrust. When sufficient communication cannot be established within the family, relationships outside the family become a matter of curiosity. Everyone tends to monitor each other's social interaction environments. This often poses a serious threat to the relationships between family members. 

Aggressive and conflict-prone relationships also make workplaces unworkable. Instead of focusing on their work within the understanding of professionalism required by every workplace, people are busy monitoring each other. Individuals who do not possess the qualifications required by their work environment and who cannot demonstrate sufficient performance turn to tendencies such as monitoring other employees, looking for faults, and forming cliques to create power centers as a way to remain in the workplace. In other words, focusing on relationships instead of focusing on work. This leads to workplaces ceasing to be places of work and turning into places of conflict. 

Perhaps the fundamental problem here is the confusion of the concept of debate with conflict. Debate is an important constituent element for democracies. It is important for people to produce different ideas and to debate them in order to reach the truth, and democratization is possible in this way. However, to be able to debate, one must produce ideas. If there is no production, there is no sharing. Where there is no sharing, there is a tendency toward tools of conflict. Those who do not have any intellectual production and cannot participate effectively in the debate environment try to manifest their existence by creating conflict. 

The same applies to the concrete production process. Let us recall pre-modern traditional societies. Let us go back to the barter era, when money was not yet widely used as a medium of exchange. Shopping was possible among those who produced. It was not possible for those who did not produce to participate in this relationship. To sustain their lives, everyone had to be involved in the production process in some way, put in labor, contribute to production, and turn what they produced into a medium of exchange and sharing. Those who are not included in the production process, who do not put in labor, and who do not produce, turn to developing tools of exploitation to sustain their lives. 

The nature of being human requires producing. Producing, contributing to one's environment, developing, improving, healing, and making things better are requirements of human nature. A person manifests their existence through what they produce. Those who do not produce, do not develop, and do not improve turn to manifesting their existence through nothingness. The expression of an ego fed by nothingness is the narcissistic personality trait. People who do not contribute to their environment, family, the institution they work for, or society, resort to various ways to be approved by everyone due to the narcissistic personality traits they develop over time. Pressuring others, creating negative perceptions about other people in the same environment, trying to clear their own names through smear campaigns against others, disturbing other people in the environment by spreading baseless information, creating chaos through this unrest, rising to the top by feeding on chaos, and gaining advantages are among the common characteristics of narcissistic people. 

People with narcissistic personality traits also try to draw attention to themselves in social environments by their style of dress, the attitudes and behaviors they exhibit, speaking loudly, starting fights for no reason, and creating conflict in order to be visible and attract attention. This is because they believe that they are being treated unfairly and victimized by other people in every environment and situation. In the family, at school, at work, and in social settings, everyone is trying to do them harm. Therefore, they keep their defense mechanisms and attack mechanisms constantly active. This causes the potential for conflict to be high in almost all layers and structures of society. 

The number of people with narcissistic personality traits in society is increasing. This causes violence, conflict, fighting, tension, fear, and anxiety to increase in all layers of society. If more than eighty percent of society is using antidepressant medication today, it is worth looking at the issue from this perspective as well. If there is a large increase in the number of people using drugs in society today, it is necessary to evaluate the issue from this perspective. In addition to the spread of drug trafficking, it is also necessary to look at the reasons for the increase in the number of those who need this substance. 

And I would like to emphasize here that education is primarily at the root of all this. If our education system could have raised qualified individuals and sent them into society, we might be talking about very different things today. Every individual who goes through an appropriate educational process from the moment they are born becomes an asset to society. Therefore, questioning our education system is of serious importance. If there is an increasing number of unhappy people and people who cause unhappiness in society, it is necessary to put the root causes of this on the table in all its aspects.
