The 8th City Theaters Festival, which will be brought to life in the 100th year of the Republic with the participation of 15 city theaters and a different play every day, was opened with the participation of Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar. Karalar stated, "We see that brotherhood and peace prevail and conflict ends in countries where art is valued and experienced freely. For this reason, those who govern the country must provide serious support to the arts."

The opening cocktail of the festival, which will meet with art lovers between October 16 and November 4, was held at the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Theater Foyer. On the first day, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters staged the play An Enemy of the People at the Adana Metropolitan Municipality Theater Hall.

'WHERE ART IS EXPERIENCED FREELY...'

At the opening, videos containing messages from many master theater actors regarding the 8th City Theaters Festival were screened.
Speaking at the opening of the festival, Mayor Zeydan Karalar stated that Ziya Pasha brought theater to Adana and that theater was performed in the city for the first time in 1880.

Expressing that theater is healing, unifying, enlightening, and illuminating, Mayor Zeydan Karalar said, “Art itself is entirely like this. We see that brotherhood and peace prevail and conflict ends in countries where art is valued and experienced freely.

For this reason, those who govern the country must provide serious support to the arts. As the Adana Metropolitan Municipality, and previously at the Seyhan Municipality where we served, we have always supported art and artists, and we will continue to do so. I am honored and proud to be a member of Adana, which has raised important artists in many branches of art. We will continue to do whatever falls to us for this to continue,” he said.

Stating that the month of October is very important for Adana and Turkey, Mayor Zeydan Karalar expressed his happiness at celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Saying, “Happy 100th anniversary of our Republic,” Mayor Zeydan Karalar announced that the celebrations will begin on October 22 this year. Providing information about the conferences, concerts, and other events to be held within the scope of the celebration program, Mayor Zeydan Karalar invited the public to the celebrations, which will last for 8 days.

During the 20-day festival, the troupes will stage their plays at 20:00 in the evening at the Adana Metropolitan Municipality City Theater hall. Invitations for the plays can be obtained from the City Theater box office.
