Artists exhibit their works among the ruins in Hatay

Gathering on Saray Street in Hatay, artists organized an event to mark the first anniversary of the earthquake.

The event featured paintings created by artists using various techniques.

Mehmet Oflazoğlu, who participated in the exhibition, told reporters that they wanted to commemorate their losses through the healing power of art.

Artist Edip Bağdatlı also expressed that the people of Antakya are strong individuals.

'IT KNEW HOW TO RISE AGAIN'

Stating that people should embrace one another through art, Bağdatlı said, "There is still hope within us. With our exhibition, we wanted to reinforce this hope. Antakya is a city that is born from its own ashes. Even though this city has been razed to the ground seven times, it knew how to rise again. We will rise again today, God willing."

Pyrography artist Naim Gülbol mentioned that he participated in the group exhibition with 3 paintings.

'WE ARE HERE TOO!'

Explaining that he carefully protects works that are symbols of the city, Gülbol stated, "We are trying to do whatever we can to revitalize our Hatay. As a group of artists, we came here saying 'we are here too'."
