Farewell to Gülsen Tuncer from the art world

Master actress, voice artist, and academic Gülsen Tuncer, who passed away due to cancer, is being laid to rest with a ceremony held in Istanbul.

The 80-year-old Tuncer, who had been receiving treatment for a brain tumor for some time, passed away on September 17. A funeral ceremony was held today at the Şişli Central Mosque for the artist, who was widely known for her role as "Arsen Hanım" in the series "Aşk-ı Memnu."

In addition to Tuncer's family and loved ones, many figures from the art world attended the ceremony. It was stated that after the funeral prayer performed following the noon prayer, Tuncer's body would be taken to the Topkapı Kozlu Cemetery to be buried.

Actress Suna Selen, who attended the funeral, said of Tuncer, "Our condolences to us all. She was a very valuable person, both in terms of art and as a human being, and she was an excellent person as a member of society. She worked very hard."

Actor Erdal Özyağcılar also stated that Tuncer was his classmate, saying, "She was a unique person. Throughout her life, she never compromised her stance in favor of humanity. She was very talented; she was my classmate. She was also very talented in acting, adding a different texture to every role she played. May God have mercy on her, may she rest in light."

Actor Serdar Gökhan expressed his sadness with the words, "We have lost a friend. May God have mercy on her, there is nothing else I can say. A valuable person has gone."

Gülsen Tuncer's husband, Engin Ayça, stated that his wife's death was a great loss for him, saying, "It is the loss of my life, but these things cannot be prevented. We will live on, we will live with her memories and her beauty, and we will keep her alive. She is gone biologically, but she will continue to live with everything she did and everything she left behind in life."
