Istanbul Modern will be open for visitors during the holiday
Closed on the first day of Ramadan Bayram, Istanbul Modern will welcome art lovers on April 11 and 12.
Art lovers will be able to visit the exhibitions 'Floating Islands', 'Ozan Sağdıç: The Photographer's Testimony', 'Timeless Curiosities', and 'Renzo Piano: The Spirit of the Place'.
The exhibition titled 'Ozan Sağdıç: The Photographer's Testimony', which features the works of Ozan Sağdıç, one of the important names in the history of Turkish photography, focuses on documentary photography—one of the most common types of photography in the world—while also shedding light on Turkey's social, political, economic, cultural, and visual history since the 1950s.
Curated by Merih Akoğul and Demet Yıldız Dinçer, the exhibition includes 127 photographs by Sağdıç, who recorded a transforming Turkey from many perspectives throughout his 70-year photography career.
YOUNG NAMES TOGETHER
The 'Timeless Curiosities' exhibition, which focuses on current technologies and digital culture, brings together young names who carry out their work in different corners of Turkey and the world.
The exhibition makes one think about the changes in the production habits of artists by making visible how the boundaries between various geographies gain flexibility. The exhibition, curated by Nilay Dursun and Ümit Mesci, features the works of 16 artists.
THE STORY OF THE MUSEUM BUILDING
The 'Renzo Piano: The Spirit of the Place' exhibition, located at the entrance of the library on the ground floor of Istanbul Modern, which is accessible free of charge, conveys the construction story of the new museum building.
The reflecting pool covering the roof of Istanbul Modern, which is located in a special position where the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn meet, offers a unique viewing experience by integrating the sea with the reflection of the city on the water.
