New event series from Meşher: 'Three Stories of a City: Streets, Sky, and Sea'

As part of the 'Istanbul as Far as the Eye Can See' exhibition, Meşher is organizing a new event series titled “Three Stories of a City: Streets, Sky, and Sea.”

Inspired by the animals hidden in the details of the city's landscapes, the events offer an opportunity to reflect on looking at Istanbul through the eyes of its inhabitants living in the air, on land, and in the sea.

THE EVENT SERIES BEGINS WITH A SCREENING OF THE FILM 'KEDI'

The event series, which attempts to look at Istanbul through the eyes of other living beings that are part of the city, begins with a screening of the film Kedi. Directed by Ceyda Torun, the 2016 documentary focuses on the daily lives of the four-legged residents living in various neighborhoods of Istanbul.

The film screening will take place on Thursday, March 14, at 19:00 at the Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) Auditorium.

The screening will begin with an introduction by editor and historian Özge Ertem from ANAMED. Ertem, who was one of the storytellers in the 'Tracing Women Artists in Beyoğlu' event that Meşher realized in collaboration with the SU Gender Cins Adımlar team, will open a door to the documentary from the world of the city and the cats of Beyoğlu.

A LOOK FROM THE SEA AND THE SKY

The subsequent events in the series will be held in collaboration with the Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TÜDAV).

In the events planned for April and May, the dolphins of the Bosphorus and the shearwaters flying over the Bosphorus between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea will be observed.
