11 people arrested in Can Holding investigation: Second wave of operations

In the second wave of operations conducted as part of the investigation into allegations of forming an organization to commit crimes through companies operating under Can Holding, 11 out of 26 detained suspects, including Mehmet Kenan Tekdağ and Mehmet Remzi Sanver, have been arrested.

As part of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Can Holding, a second wave of operations was conducted based on a MASAK report and evidence obtained, targeting 35 suspects considered to have played an active role in the organizational structure, with the operation centered in Istanbul and extending to Mersin, Iğdır, and İzmir.

A total of 26 suspects were detained in the operation, including Binsat Holding Board Chairmen Arafat Bingöl and Cengiz Bingöl, former Bilgi University Rector Remzi Sanver, Mehmet Kenan Tekdağ, and Betül Can and Zühal Can, the wives of Can Holding owners Şakir Can and Murat Can. Numerous digital materials, documents, and valuable papers were seized during searches conducted at company headquarters and the suspects' residences.

The 26 detained suspects were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after their procedures at the gendarmerie were completed.

11 PEOPLE ARRESTED, 14 SUSPECTS RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL

Among the suspects referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest following their statements to the prosecutor, Mehmet Remzi Sanver, Mehmet Kenan Tekdağ, Mehmet Sıddık Kaya, Emin Şahin, Nuh Zafer Metin, Serap Özgür, Abdulselam Yıldız, Tuncay Şahin, Adnan Yıldız, Nurettin Paksoy, and Mustafa Şahin were arrested on charges of "membership in a criminal organization for profit" and "laundering assets derived from crime." Judicial control measures including travel bans and mandatory reporting were imposed on 11 suspects in the case, while house arrest was ordered for the other 3 suspects.
