2 organized crime groups dismantled in Kafes-29 operations

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced in a statement on X that 2 regional organized crime groups, led by Volkan Reçber and Emrah Sever, were dismantled as part of the "Kafes-29" operations. 61 suspects were also apprehended during the operations. 

Yerlikaya's post is as follows:

"Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime, and carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Anti-Organized Crime branches, the 'Kafes-29' operations targeted 2 separate regional criminal organizations that were hostile toward each other, led by Volkan Reçber, who is abroad and wanted with a Red Notice, and Emrah Sever, nicknamed 'Arap Emrah,' who is currently in prison;

It was determined that they committed 4 separate murders in Istanbul, caused the death of a young girl and significant material damage to numerous businesses due to armed clashes they engaged in within Istanbul, entered into armed conflict with police officers on duty in Eyüpsultan, carried out threats and armed attacks against individuals with whom they had disputes, committed numerous shootings of businesses and residences for the purpose of intimidation and extortion, engaged in drug trafficking, possessed numerous unlicensed firearms, and robbed foreigners of their money.

In the simultaneous operations organized in 7 provinces, centered in Istanbul, against individuals who threatened public safety and peace by committing the aforementioned crimes within the scope of 'establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes' and organizational activities, 28 pistols, 6 AK-47 Kalashnikovs, 1 Utaş long-barreled automatic weapon, and 1 bulletproof vest were seized."
