The proceedings for the 17 people referred to the courthouse as part of the investigation into Merkezefendi Municipality in Denizli have been completed. The court issued arrest warrants for 5 people, including Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan.
Among those arrested, in addition to Mayor Şeniz Doğan, were her husband Mehmet Ali Doğan, Deputy Mayor Hüdai Tirit, Financial Services Manager Yurdagül Okkacı, and businessman Abdullah Hülagü. 12 suspects were released on the condition of judicial control.
The 17 suspects detained as part of the investigation were brought to the courthouse at 07:30 in the morning. Prosecutor's office statements and other judicial procedures continued until late at night. Following the procedures at the prosecutor's office, 5 suspects were referred to the court with a request for arrest.
It was learned that Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan gave a 40-page statement at the prosecutor's office. After the decisions were announced, some citizens waiting in front of the courthouse were seen supporting Doğan and the other detainees with whistles and applause.
Arrested Mayor Doğan and the other individuals were taken to prison after the completion of the procedures at the courthouse.
