90 fugitives captured in 16 countries brought to Turkey

The Ministry of Interior announced that significant results have been achieved in operations targeting criminals who have outstanding arrest warrants and were determined to have fled abroad. A total of 90 fugitive criminals, including 42 wanted with Red Notices and 48 wanted at the national level, have been captured and extradited to Turkey.

90 fugitives captured in 16 countries brought to Turkey

A new phase has been reached in international operations targeting individuals who have fled abroad and are wanted for various crimes. As a result of efforts coordinated by the Ministry of Interior, 90 fugitive criminals identified in different countries have been brought to Turkey.

In a statement made by the Ministry, it was noted that the operations were carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Interpol-Europol Department and the Ministry of Justice.

42 WERE WANTED WITH RED NOTICES

It was reported that 42 of the individuals captured and extradited to Turkey within the scope of the operation were wanted with Red Notices, while 48 were wanted at the national level.

It was stated that joint efforts conducted with the law enforcement agencies of the relevant countries were effective in identifying and capturing the fugitives in the countries where they were located.

MOST EXTRADITIONS CAME FROM GEORGIA

According to information shared by the Ministry, the highest number of extraditions to Turkey took place from Georgia. 58 people captured in Georgia were handed over to Turkey.

The other countries where fugitive criminals were captured and brought to Turkey were listed as follows:

Germany: 12 people

Bulgaria: 3 people

Greece: 3 people

Netherlands: 2 people

TRNC: 2 people

Additionally, the extradition of one person each captured in Austria, Belarus, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, North Macedonia, Moldova, Thailand, and Ukraine was secured.

CAPTURED THROUGH JOINT OPERATION

It was reported that the operations were carried out with the coordination of many units within the General Directorate of Security.

The statement noted that the Departments of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM), Intelligence, Anti-Narcotics, Cybercrime, Public Order, and Counter-Terrorism conducted joint work.

MESSAGE OF DETERMINATION FROM THE MINISTRY

In the Ministry of Interior's statement, it was emphasized that individuals wanted with Red Notices and at the national level will continue to be captured and brought to Turkey.

The statement included the following remarks: "We continue to capture and bring back to our country the members of organized crime groups and drug traffickers whom we are searching for with Red Notices and at the national level."

OPERATIONS WILL CONTINUE

The Ministry thanked the police units involved in the operations and the institutions that contributed to the process.

The statement indicated that the coordinated efforts of the police force members and Ministry of Justice officials involved in the work will continue.
