After İmamoğlu, another account hit with access ban!

A new addition has been made to the access restrictions on digital platforms regarding CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently held in Silivri Prison and faces a 2,352-year prison sentence in the prepared indictment.

Following an account that was hit with an access ban three times, a decision has now been taken against the website and X account sharing content under the title “Istanbul Indictment.” The site at “istanbuliddianamesi.com/tr” and the “ist_iddianamesi” account on the X platform were on the agenda due to their posts regarding the indictment prepared in line with “corruption” allegations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

The Freedom of Expression Association announced the access ban decision with the following statement:

'"Following the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office within the scope of the investigation conducted into the “corruption” allegations at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), the website (istanbuliddianamesi.com/tr) and X account (ist_iddianamesi) opened under the name “Istanbul Indictment” to address the allegations in the file have been blocked from access in accordance with Article 8/A of Law No. 5651, on the grounds of protecting national security and public order. The account has been made invisible from Turkey by X."
