Allegations that Popular Mobilization Forces entered an oil field in Sulaymaniyah
It has been alleged that forces affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) entered an oil field in Sulaymaniyah, in northern Iraq. According to information received from the region, this movement, which reportedly took place following an agreement with PUK leader Bafel Talabani, has resulted in uncertainty.
According to reports in some media outlets affiliated with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) entered oil fields located in the Garmian and Kolajo regions of Sulaymaniyah in the country's north with dozens of military vehicles. This development has increased tension in the region.
ALLEGATION OF ENTRY INTO OIL FIELD
According to information obtained by Anadolu Agency from sources in the region, the Popular Mobilization Forces were deployed from Baghdad to the oil field in question with hundreds of military vehicles as a result of an agreement made with Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leader Bafel Talabani. This move has the potential to alter the balance in the region.
Although it was later alleged that the Popular Mobilization Forces withdrew from the area, no official statement has yet been made regarding the matter by either the Popular Mobilization Forces or the PUK.
