Arrest warrant issued for former AKP member Hüseyin Kocabıyık: He makes his first statement

It was decided that Kocabıyık would be arrested on charges of "insulting the president." Following the decision, Kocabıyık stated, "It would have been worse if I hadn't been arrested. This is a badge of honor for me."

"THEY CANNOT SILENCE ME BY THROWING ME IN PRISON"

In his first statement after the decision, the former AKP deputy said the following:

"No one can silence me by throwing me in prison. There are judges and prosecutors in this country who do not recognize the Constitution. We will fight more than ever for our country and our nation, for a constitutional and democratic state of law. It would have been worse if I hadn't been arrested. This is a badge of honor for me."

'İMAMOĞLU' EXPULSION

On March 19, the day Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was detained, Kocabıyık had made the following post:

"Recep Tayyip Erdoğan... was this the place for the future? Is this what we fought for? Is this why we dragged ourselves through courts for years? You actually staged a coup against yourself, you have no idea!"

Three days after the post, on March 22, Kocabıyık was referred to the AKP Central Disciplinary Board with a request for permanent expulsion, and he was expelled from his party on March 26.

In an interview, Kocabıyık had said, "The AK Party distributes something to everyone. They gave me something too. They had made my wife a governor. At that time, two minister friends called me and joked, 'How we nailed you to the floor.' They took it back because I objected to certain things. This is the system. That's why they are silent."
