Breaking News... Akın Gürlek announces: Perpetrator of 3 murders in Ankara found after years!
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that, as part of efforts to resolve cold cases, suspects have been identified and arrested in connection with 3 murders and 6 attempted murders in Ankara, as well as a double murder case in Osmaniye.
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that new results have been reached in two separate files as part of ongoing efforts regarding cold cases in Ankara and Osmaniye. According to the announcement made by Gürlek on his social media account, suspects have been identified and arrested in both cases.
Minister Gürlek stated that, under the coordination of the Department for Investigation of Cold Cases, which was established on April 24, 2026, and through work conducted with public prosecutor's offices, police, and gendarmerie units, 36 cold cases involving the deaths of 41 people and the injury of 7 others have been solved to date.
According to the statement, 3 murders and 6 attempted murder incidents in Ankara, which were noted to have been committed using the same method in 2015 and resulted in the deaths of Hasan Saygın, Muhsin Demirdirek, and Mustafa Çağmaoğlu, were re-examined.
In the investigations, statements, HTS (Historical Traffic Search) and base station records, the suspect's movements during the period when the events occurred, and findings related to a similar murder committed in Antalya were evaluated together. According to the Ministry, the fact that similar attacks ceased after M.Ö. left Ankara at the end of 2015 was also among the findings considered in the file.
It was determined that M.Ö., who is currently in prison for another murder conviction, is the suspect in the 3 murders and 6 attempted murders in Ankara. Following his statement taken on August 7, 2026, M.Ö. was arrested on charges of 3 counts of intentional homicide and 6 counts of attempted intentional homicide.
In Osmaniye, the case of the couple Mustafa and Hüsna Ala, who were killed in their home on February 13, 2019, was reopened. It was stated that crime scene photographs, a missing promissory note, witness accounts, HTS and narrowed base station records, and PTS (License Plate Recognition System) data were re-examined.
As a result of the work, it was announced that the suspect Y.K.'s contact with the victims, base station records in the area of the incident, and entry-exit records of his vehicle were identified. Y.K., who was detained on August 21, was arrested by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
"No matter how many years pass, we will not give up on the crime and the criminal. No file that remains open in the public conscience will be left unattended; we will continue to shed light on cold cases one by one."
