Former captain Burkay Karatepe, who was identified as being part of the assassination team targeting AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Marmaris during the FETÖ-led coup attempt on July 15, 2016, was referred to the Muğla Courthouse this morning under heavy security measures after completing his three-day processing at the police station.

Karatepe, who was captured in an operation conducted in Afyonkarahisar and was reportedly dismissed from the Special Forces Command, has finished his interrogation at the police station. The suspect was brought to the courthouse under security escort.

It was determined that Karatepe had been using fake identities and GSM lines belonging to others. During a search of his home, jewelry and cash worth approximately 6 million 445 thousand Turkish Lira were seized.
