CHP brings corruption allegations at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to the parliamentary agenda

CHP Deputy Chairman Ulaş Karasu has applied to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) with a parliamentary question questioning the transparency and merit of appointments made at the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ). 

In the motion submitted for the response of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, he brought to the agenda the appointments made to managerial positions at DHMİ, suspicious procurements within the institution, and allegations of illicit enrichment.

DHMİ HAS BEEN TURNED INTO A HAVEN FOR SPOUSES, FRIENDS, AND RELATIVES

Karasu claimed that individuals appointed to managerial roles at DHMİ during the AKP era have effectively turned the institution into a "haven for cronies," stating, "DHMİ has become an institution where nepotism for spouses, friends, and relatives prevails, and where suspicious procurements and corruption are normalized."

QUESTIONS POSED BY KARASU

Ulaş Karasu posed the following questions to Minister Uraloğlu:

What are the professions and educational backgrounds of the current members of the Board of Directors and department heads of DHMİ?

Are there any kinship relations among these individuals? If so, could you explain these kinship ties?

How many of the appointments made to the institution include individuals who transitioned to the public sector from municipalities via 'private secretary' staff positions?

What are the subjects of the nearly 90 investigations opened by the DHMİ Inspection Board?

What are the reasons for the 6,162 lawsuits and enforcement files mentioned in the institution's annual report last year?

It has been stated that no agreement was reached with 141 out of 147 firms/individuals who applied for mediation regarding commercial disputes. Which firms are these, and what are the reasons for the disputes?

What is the aviation education and experience of Deputy General Manager and consultant Murat Gül?

How many lawyers work within DHMİ, and according to what criteria were the law firms contracted for external services selected?

How much has been paid for external legal services in the last three years?
