CHP Chair Özgür Özel warns the government to 'get up from the table': 'Sensible world leaders have stayed away'

In his speech at the Gölbaşı Municipality's iftar program, Özel stated that he does not engage in politics at iftar tables but pointed to two issues, saying, "Trump's interest in Gaza is well-known. He has formed a delegation, and the sensible leaders of the world have stayed away. Our people, however, sat at that delegation, at the table to plunder Gaza. We invite Turkey to immediately get up from that table," he said.

In his speech here, Özel said, "We came here to taste the joy of sharing in the unifying climate of this month," and added:

"Thank you for your hospitality and sincere welcome. All the people of Gölbaşı are experiencing a great honor. Gölbaşı, along with Haymana, is one of the districts where all the preparations for the Battle of Sakarya were made, logistics were provided, and the course of the War of Independence was changed. Of course, Gölbaşı was not a district back then and was within the lands of Haymana. It is necessary to remember that all logistics were carried out from here and a great victory was won. Gölbaşı is a special district, the apple of the capital's eye. In this beautiful district, which we see getting better every time we come and which has turned into a shining star of Ankara, the unique love flower also grows.

"160 GIRL STUDENTS WERE MASSACRED IN IRAN"

Right next to us, blood is being shed in our neighbor Iran, where our Muslim brothers live, as a result of attacks launched by a Zionist Israel and imperialist America without calculation, without consulting anyone, and without warning. On such a day, from these lands where Gölbaşı's unique love flower grows, let us wish for the war to stop and for peace once again on this blessed Ramadan day. Let us wish for peace for all children in the world. Let us once again condemn that attack in which 160 girl students were massacred. Let us wish for peace to be established as soon as possible."

Stating that he does not engage in politics at the iftar table as a matter of principle, Özel continued his words by saying, "But we are drawing attention to two points and making a demand and request from here":

"One of them is Trump's interest in Gaza. He says, 'I saw Gaza. What are the Palestinians doing there?' He says, 'Let's sweep them into the five surrounding Muslim countries, let's build hotels, casinos, and gambling houses there. The beach is nice, and there is oil in its sea. I want Gaza.'

Now this Trump has gone and formed a delegation, and the sensible leaders of the world have stayed away. Unfortunately, our people sat at that delegation, at the Gaza Peace Table—supposedly named peace, but it is a table to plunder Gaza. We said, 'Why did you sit there? Palestine is not there.' They said, 'Israel is not there either. There will be no two sides, we will do it this way.' Exactly two days before the meeting, they accepted Israel and Netanyahu, and they seated Israel in the place where Palestine was not. When it happened like that, they revealed the plans for those gambling houses and hotels to be built, and they are doing this in the presence of the Republic of Turkey.

From here, reminding of the late Ecevit's and the late Erbakan's sensitivity toward Palestine, and the support they gave to Yasser Arafat and the Palestine Liberation Organization, while it is possible to go down in history like Necmettin Erbakan or Bülent Ecevit, going down in history this way does not benefit any politician. We invite Turkey to immediately get up from that table and to stand against Israel, not beside it."

"THE NUMBER OF THOSE WHO DIED IN THE US/ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN HAS APPROACHED 1,500"

"Furthermore, it is unthinkable; they got up and attacked Iran on a blessed Ramadan day. They killed 160 little girls. The number of those who died since the last attack has approached 1,500; they are trying to change the regime in Iran. We want Iran to be more democratic, for a regime that respects women's rights to be formed, and for there to be no human rights violations, but we want all of these to be resolved by Iran, by the decision of the Iranians, and as their own internal affairs, and for them to democratize their countries. We do not find the attacks carried out on Iran with missiles, with massacre dives and strikes, or the assassinations carried out against the country's administrative cadres or the acts of entering homes and kidnapping people from there, to be right anywhere in the world, whether the country is Venezuela or Iran.

"TRUMP'S ORDER CANNOT BE THE NEW WORLD ORDER"

The new order established by Trump cannot be the new world order. We object to this order to the end. We defend a democratic and United Nations-based world order that was established after the Second World War, that avoids a Third World War, and especially one where extreme sensitivity should be shown regarding nuclear wars.

We are uneasy about the bomb and shrapnel that fell on Cyprus. We attach great importance to the rapid deployment of our army and Naval Forces to Northern Cyprus and their taking all kinds of measures there. Our minds are in Cyprus, in Palestine, and with the Muslims in Iran. We reject a dual understanding, a hypocritical understanding, that works with Israel and America, and then speaks as if it were on the side of Palestine or Iran when it comes to talk.

From here, I wish my fellow citizens in Gölbaşı that the remaining blessed Ramadan days are realized in the best way, that the holiday is reached, that there is peace and tranquility with the holiday, and I wish for tomorrows where all problems will be solved in the coming days, the country will rise again, and peace will prevail."
