CHP İstanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik reacts sharply to trustee decision: 'A true CHP member will not comply with this ruling'
CHP İstanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik made a statement regarding the court ruling issued against his party and himself. Stating that they remain at their posts, Çelik used striking expressions.
In his press statement, Özgür Çelik included the following remarks:
This is a political decision; we know the purpose of this ruling. As the CHP, we became the leading party in the local elections, doubled our number of municipalities, and for 300 days we have been facing great lawlessness and injustice; they want to interrupt our struggle.
The convention and congress process has begun with the general decision taken by our party, and the process is proceeding healthily so far.
Their primary goal is to continue to hold the 'Sword of Damocles' over the CHP; the decision taken is contrary to the law. We have held our meeting with our authorized figures regarding this decision, and we will continue our legal struggle to the end, and we will also continue our political struggle.
Our legal experts will appeal this decision; we are at our posts and will continue to be so.
The congresses and conventions we have held are brilliant and clean... We will ensure that our ongoing congress processes continue.
"A TRUE CHP MEMBER WILL NOT COMPLY WITH THIS RULING"
This is a decision taken by those who want to design politics with the stick of the judiciary; they want to design the opposition themselves, they want to make the ballot box symbolic; no CHP member will comply with this decision, not a single person who is a true CHP member will comply with this ruling. We know that they will reject this decision.
This decision is an issue for our Turkey; the decision has a cost to our country. We saw a decline in our stock market when the decision was announced; the decision has damages to the economy and politics.
The lawlessness experienced for 300 days has had very heavy costs to the economy; today, Turkey's democracy has been damaged. The national will has been disregarded.
The CHP is a party founded on the battlefields by the Kuvay-i Milliye (National Forces); as the administrators of a party founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, we are at our jobs, and we will not surrender this place to anyone.
May our people rest assured, we will win this battle.
