CİMER tip-off reveals: 2 people arrested for preparing an attack on Akın Gürlek's wife

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, two suspects alleged to have been preparing an attack on Elif Gülşah Gürlek, the wife of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, have been arrested.

INVESTIGATION BEGAN WITH A TIP-OFF TO CİMER

According to the report in T24, information in the referral for arrest indicates that the investigation was initiated following an application made to CİMER. The person who made the tip-off stated that they witnessed the conversation of two individuals while purchasing a ticket for travel abroad.

In their statement, they reported that the suspects mentioned the name of Elif Gülşah Gürlek, examined a location via Google Maps, noted the exact address of the Süzer Plaza, and evaluated the routes to the plaza in detail.

The applicant also stated that they heard the suspects discussing how to bring a weapon into the plaza and claiming that the instructions came from abroad.

The person who made the tip-off explained that after hearing the surname "Gürlek," they realized the person in question was Elif Gülşah Gürlek, the wife of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, and subsequently reported the situation to the authorities.

FIREARMS AND A LARGE SUM OF MONEY SEIZED

As a result of physical and intelligence work conducted by the police, it was determined that one of the suspects, U.I., directed young people between the ages of 18 and 25 to organized crime groups with domestic and international connections. The file also included assessments that these individuals carried out armed actions.

During searches of the suspects' addresses on different dates, two unlicensed pistols and ammunition for these weapons were seized. It was also stated that 3 million 206 thousand TL in cash was found during the searches, and the suspect could not provide an explanation regarding the source of this money.

TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED

The two suspects, who were detained within the scope of the investigation, were arrested by the court to which they were referred following their procedures at the prosecutor's office.
